Entrepreneurial action in healthy cooking practices

Have you ever thought what your life would be like if you were born as someone else? What if you were born as one of those homeless people? What if you had to suffer all the time and struggle just to make it through the day? We didn’t get to choose our own destiny, but one thing is certain, we can all do something to help make someone else’s life just a bit better. With this thought in mind and with passion in heart, Enactus REC continued its journey. Analyzing the current market, junk food was found to be so prevalent in today’s world. Hence Enactus REC came up with Project Dhaniyam, an active step towards healthy cooking.

Analyzing the current market, junk food was found to be so prevalent in today’s world. Hence Enactus REC came up with Project Dhaniyam, an active step towards healthy cooking practices. Project Dhaniyam aims at making healthy eating habits possible as the products are made from millet grain varieties such as ragi. The team reached out to MMDA colony, a place where life is a struggle each day. The dusty streets, malnourished children and unhygienic ambience usually stand out. The team found out that Mrs. Sasikala was one among that community who toiled day and night for just one square meal. The project focused on a two-way benefit. One, to provide healthy dishes to consumers and two, through its income, help Mrs. Sasikala and her family lead a sustainable life.

Project Dhaniyam started off with the preparation of tasty ragi ladoos.  Mrs.Sasikala who was trained by experts in millet based cooking to make the product. Slowly, the cashew topped ragi ladoos fetched a good reach among consumers, which got us many sustainable orders from various shops and temples across the city. It never mattered about how many lives, the team has transformed but how effectively the team has transformed one life towards betterment.

On that note Enactus REC proud to mention that Mrs.Sasikala now heads a team of 10 women who are earning good enough to support their daily needs. The team believes in going that extra mile when it comes to making its projects sustainable. Thus, Enactus REC is looking forward to expand its project and collaborating with various other stores.
